Our landfill is located just 7 minutes north of Fairview, Alberta.
Children and dogs are to stay in vehicles at all times, equipment has the right of way as we are an active job site.

The NPRL is now a collection site for the Alberta Ag-Plastic Recycle It! Pilot Program. Only grain bags and twine (plastic) are program materials at this time. Includes normal residential waste such as condemned food or decomposing material, soiled cardboard, clear plastics, cartons, food, containers and wrappings, shingles and styrofoam. Household waste is to be placed into the landfill cell or transfer bins.
Includes tree prunings, brush and fallen trees, dimensional lumber, wooden pallets, engineered wood products, wooden packing crates, wooden materials from the construction and demolition of buildings. Burnable debris goes to the designated area on the north side of the site past the recycle compound to the area marked “BURN PIT”.
BURNABLE DEBRIS DOES NOT INCLUDE – Wooden material which has been treated with any kind of wood preservative, animal manure, pathological waste, furniture, rubber tires, plastic, anything containing or coated with rubber or plastic, used oil, agricultural bailing twine, cardboard or any similar substances. This material goes into the landfill cell or transfer bins.
Includes lawn chairs, metal step ladders, television antennas, ironing boards, strollers, metal decks, stock tanks, metal kitchen chairs, car stereos, bikes, swing sets, 45 gallon drums (only with bungs removed or punctured), rusty mufflers, barbecues, filing cabinets, shocks, car hoods/fenders/doors/hub caps, lawn mowers, weed eaters(only with oil & gas removed), eavestroughing, metal canopies, washers, dryers, stoves, dishwashers, furnaces, hot water tanks, metal shelving/racks, light metal packing crates, light sheet metal or siding, metal bath tubs and pipe up to 1/4 inch (must be cut into 5 foot lengths). This section does not include freon-containing products. Metal items with wood attached can be a maximum of 25% wood and 75% metal. These items go to the recycle compound area in the section marked as “Crushable Scrap Metal”
Includes freon-containing products such as air conditioning units, refrigerators, freezers and beverage coolers. These items go to the recycle compound area in the section marked as “Fridges, Freezers, and Water Coolers”.
Barbed wire, cable, wire or metal banding must be cut into 4 foot lengths or coiled and banded (to allow for recycling). Fencing such as page, chain link, stucco wire or chicken wire must be rolled and banded or secured in such form. Wire and cable must be free of all wooden fence posts. These items go to the recycle compound area in the section marked “Wire”.
Includes pipe over 1/4 inch cut into 4-5 foot lengths, rebar, engines, brake drums, cast items, transmissions, vehicle springs, rims, steel plate, vehicle differentials, propane tanks, most culverts (free of dirt and wood).
Steel fuel tanks will be accepted only if they have been steamed and cut in half. Vehicle or equipment fuel tanks must be empty of product and punctured. These items go to the recycle compound area in the section marked “Heavy Steel, Cable and Pipe” (Yellow Roll-off Bin)
Includes all grass clippings and yard pruning’s from garden, trees and shrubs. All material must be removed from the plastic bags, no plastics or other materials allowed in the compost pile.
We accept e-waste such as televisions, computers, monitors, copiers, printer. Waste paint including interior/exterior latex, alkyd, deck and floor varnishes and stains, urethane, primers, rust and metal paint aerosols. All types of tires. Household hazardous waste (HHW) in small quantities. Clean cardboard including corrugated and packing boxes. Mixed paper such as newspaper and office paper. Rinsed tin cans. Plastics #1 through 7. Batteries including vehicle, rechargable, alkaline. Fluorescent light tubes.

Site users are required to follow all the policies and procedures of the North Peace Regional Landfill. These policies are put in place to ensure the landfill is operated in a safe and environmentally sound manner.
The North Peace Regional Landfill facility uses random load screening to ensure waste is acceptable under the Alberta Environment Waste Control Regulation and other governing regulations for a Class II landfill site. Any vehicles entering the site may be subject to load screening.

This is my 8th year working at the landfill. My favorite thing about the landfill is the amazing people I work with.
I have worked at landfill for 7 years, my favorite thing about working at the landfill is the variety it provides day to day. It is never boring.
This is my first year here, and it has been a steep learning curve. My favorite job at the landfill is a tie between mowing grass and plowing snow.
I have worked here for 8 years. My favorite job is mowing grass with the Kubota. One interesting fact about me is that I am a great-grandmother.
